  • FAQs

How long does it take to spot the difference Scooch makes?

As all dogs are individual, so too are their results. Results vary depending on your pup's age, breed, weight and underlying health conditions.

Some dogs notice a difference within one or two weeks. While others might take eight weeks of daily chews to feel the full benefits. For those on treatment plans, our vets are on hand to talk you through the process as you go!

(We suggest doubling the dose for the first three weeks for dogs with more advanced joint concerns as an initial loading period).

My pup's a little particular; will they like the taste?

We intentionally prepare our joint supplements to make sure dogs find them delicious. With a natural chicken flavour that could tempt even the fussiest of palettes!

When will I know the time's right to introduce my dog to supplements?

Joint supplements can be beneficial in dogs of all ages. You can protect younger dogs ahead of daily wear and tear from as young as 12 weeks old. It’s also possible to support older dogs with underlying and pre-existing joint concerns.

*A study showed that certain ingredients, including glucosamine and chondroitin, offer anti-inflammatory benefits and help to protect joint cartilage from breakdown. Providing both short-term benefits to help repair damage and long-term benefits to protect joint health. Which is beneficial to young dogs experiencing daily wear and tear and to support older dogs with underlying joint concerns.

Is this product suitable for dog's that suffer from allergies?

We have made every effort to make this chew as allergen-free as possible. However, due to the nature of the ingredients, it may not be suitable for dogs with a shellfish or pork allergy. If you're not sure, please get in touch with our lovely team.

What’s the best way to know if my dog would benefit from joint supplements?

You know your pup better than anyone. However, some clues that your dog might be starting to suffer from joint issues include:

    • Decrease inactivity
    • Slower walking
    • Stiffness
    • Limping or favouring a limb
    • Inability to rise
    • Reluctance to jump or climb the stairs
    • Increased sleeping and laying
    • Loss of muscle

  • Packed with active ingredients

    Glucosamine HCl

Glucosamine is a natural component that gives strength to joint cartilage - helping to defend against damage and keep the protective cartilage intact. As your dog ages, their bodies produce less glucosamine. So their joint cartilage (which acts as a protective shock-absorber) can become thinned, leading to joint pain.

This study shows that dogs benefitted from statistically significant improvements in joint pain and weight-bearing by day 70 when treated with both Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulphate*.

*McCarthy, G., O'Donovan, J., Jones, B., McAllister, H., Seed, M., & Mooney, C. (2007). Randomised double-blind, positive-controlled trial to assess the efficacy of glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate for the treatment of dogs with osteoarthritis. Veterinary journal, 174(1), pp. 54–61.

    Chondroitin Sulfate

Vets recommend chondroitin for pets with joint stiffness. Chondroitin is a natural component of joint cartilage. It helps your pup's mobility and supports their joints to delay or dodge future stiffness and issues.

    Boswellia Serrata

A natural herbal extract from the Boswellia serrata tree shown to have powerful anti-inflammatory effects. It works to soothe swelling and improve joint comfort. As a bonus, it can also speed up healing from infections and may even have a role in balancing immune systems.

This study shows that dogs supplemented with boswellia serrata showed a statistically significant reduction in lameness, pain and stiffness after just six weeks*.

  • Packed with active ingredients

    Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid occurs in joints as part of the cartilage and joint fluid, acting as a natural shock absorber. When taken orally (such as a chew supplement like ours), hyaluronic acid helps to prevent friction in the joints and keep dogs mobile.

In a study, as joint diseases in dogs became more advanced, hyaluronic acids levels in the joint fluid were shown to significantly decrease*.

    Methylsulfonylmethane

Methylsulfonylmethane (or MSM for short!) is a natural source of sulphur known for joint health benefits. It plays a key role in our dog's collagen and glucosamine production.

This study shows MSM can have sweeping positive effects throughout the body, including joint pain reduction and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as improvements to allergies and skin sensitivities*.

    Green Lipped Mussel (Perna Canaliculus)

The Green Lipped Mussel is found exclusively off the coast of New Zealand. Rich in vitamins C and E, antioxidants, and minerals such as copper, zinc, and selenium, Green Lipped Mussel contains a cocktail of mighty ingredients to bolster your dog's joints. It's also packed full of omega-3's which can help to fight inflammation and soothe stiff joints.

This study shows Dogs supplemented with GLM showed significant improvement in total arthritic score, joint pain and joint swelling at the end of a six week period*.

The Timeline:

The protective, therapeutic effects of joint supplements will take daily use and a bit of time. Most dogs will begin noticing the benefits in around six to eight weeks.

But it doesn't stop there.

Below you'll see what's happening inside when you give your dog daily joint protection - they'll be standing on their own four feet in no time!

  • Week 1

Boswellia serrata gets to work restoring inflammatory balance and your dog may begin to feel more comfortable already.

  • Week 8

Glucosamine and Chondroitin provide the essential building blocks for cartilage in joints, helping to delay damage from daily wear and tear.

  • Month 4 From 'bone idle' to 'bone idol'.

Omega-3s in green-lipped mussel help to cushion the joints, aid mobility and flexibility.

  • Month 6

Our complementary ingredients and in full effect, joints are feeling more cushioned, moving more freely and are better protected.
